The Care Certificate logoThe Care Certificate is a national requirement to be completed by non-registered clinical staff in a health or social care setting as a part of their induction. This includes healthcare and nursing assistants.

If you are new to care, or working in a healthcare role at CWPT and don't yet have your Care Certificate, we will support you to complete it. It is completely free, and takes just 12 weeks. As well as providing you with important skills, support and training, the Care Certificate is a mandatory requirement for many training opportunities and qualifications you may consider in the future. You will have a workplace mentor/ assessor and our dedicated Care Certificate lead will support you too.

The Care Certificate is an agreed set of standards which sets out the knowledge, skills and behaviours expected of specific job roles in the health and social care sectors. It's made up of the 15 minimum standards and was developed jointly by Skills for Care, Health Education England and Skills for Health.

The 15 standards are:

  3. Duty of care
  4. Equality and diversity
  5. Work in a person centred way
  6. Communication
  7. Privacy and dignity
  8. Fluids and nutrition
  9. Awareness of mental health, dementia and learning disabilities
  10. Safeguarding adults
  11. Safeguarding children
  12. Basic life support
  13. Health and safety
  14. Handling information
  15. Infection prevention and control

How to access 

If you are new to CWPT and need to complete the Care Certificate, you will be automatically enrolled onto the course on the Trust's Talent Platform. You can access the Talent Platform using the button below to view your training. If you are an existing staff member, and would like to complete your Care Certificate please contact the Talent for Care team at Care.Certificate@covwarkpt.nhs.uk.
